"Every dog story should end with living happily ever after. There is no reason on earth to have it any other way. This Valentine's Day we celebrate our love for our Granddog, Callie Sue.
We first set eyes upon sweet Callie Sue, a Border Collie/Sheltie in a McDonald's parking lot where she had been transported just in time from a Kansas animal shelter by Wyoming Border Collie Rescue. We had come to transport her sibling to a foster home in another part of Wyoming. She seemed like a dog I had envisioned in a dream, or had seen somewhere before. She reminded me, possibly, of a childhood pet. I couldn't put my finger on it, so we took a couple of pictures, got ready to leave for our portion of the transport, and promised her we'd see her again. She was just what our daughter and son-in- law were looking for, a just-the-right-size pet for their small family: Mom, Dad, an older dog, and one little boy.
When Callie Sue became available for adoption, they were waiting with open arms. Every weekday Callie Sue comes to Granny's house with her little person Brandon, and they have fun while Mom and Dad are at work. Two of Brandon's cousins also come over and she is literally in canine heaven.
From wildly making snow angels to hiding the boys' toys, running with Dad on the bike path and riding in the van, stealing part of the kids' lunch or taking naps in bed with them, Callie Sue doesn't miss much. She is the perfect dog for children. She has the high IQ of both breeds, and the personality to match. Our home and our lives would have a big void without her.
Thank you, Tonya at Wyoming BC Rescue, for agreeing to rescue and plan a future for Callie. As you can see, she deserved a life, and is living it to the fullest."
