Success Stories

"Katie" (a.k.a. "Bobbi") -- adopted October 2003

"We adopted a Border Collie "Annie" from the Nebraska Border Collie Rescue (a truly wonderful and dedicated group) in March, 2003. After some acclimation to her new surroundings, we found that the very shy Annie really opened up and had a great time playing with other dogs. Some Border Collies are very focused on "their people" and aren't that interested in other dogs. Annie, however, was beside herself when playing and romping with other dogs. So we decided that we would become a two-dog household for the first time and get Annie a constant 4-legged companion.

Nebraska Border Collie Rescue put us in touch with the Wyoming Border Collie Rescue, and in a few days, Tonya emailed us a picture of "Bobbi". Once seeing that photo of the little cocked head with her bright eyes and pink tongue looking so intently into the camera, we knew that we had to make the half-day drive up to Wyoming and see this little ball of fur. We almost knew that this would not be just a trip to "look". We didn't say it to each other, but we knew that we would be taking "Bobbi" home with us, sight unseen. Bobbi had been named because of her little stub of a tail which had been, for some unknown reason, bobbed by her original owners. That was only a trait that made her more endearing.

We have had Bobbi (newly named Katie) since October of 2003. She is a high energy dog who is constantly wanting to play and run - everything you expect from a Border Collie. Annie is still queen of the house, but Katie keeps her on her four paws. We've taken Katie to a couple of obedience classes and she is outstanding. Upon recommendation by the trainers, we're enrolling her in an agility class. She is such a quick learner and so eager to please, we know that she will be great at this also. She is a natural frisbee expert already and has the agility and energy to make amazing catches. Bottom line, Katie is a joy to have and the two dogs, though with very different personalities, are truly a wonderful addition to our home."
