"Hoagie" (a.k.a. "Bungee") -- adopted January 2007
"Our dog was named by Jimmy Buffett.
Hoagie (formerly known as Bungee) is named after a dog character in a Jimmy Buffett novel. For over 15 years, my husband and I have wanted a dog that would suit that name - a loyal, athletic, trail-hiking, goofy dog. And after all these years we found him.
Hoagie moved right in from day one. He has such an even disposition, marked by periods of absolute silliness. His favorite thing in the world is snow. He loves to pounce on it, roll in it, lay on it and bury his tennis balls in it.
Hoagie is wonderful and patient with our two children, with minimal herding - although our kids will never again wear shoes with lights in them! In just a matter of weeks, Hoagie settled himself into a nightly routine of lying at our feet during the kids' storytime and checking on them before he goes to bed. We've gone hiking, picnicking, bike riding and snowshoeing and Hoagie joins right in.
Hoagie is literally the dog of our dreams and we feel like our family is now complete. Thanks to all the volunteers involved with WBCR for bringing Hoagie all the way from Nebraska and into our ives. We are forever grateful."
