"Our dog, Tess, succumbed to bladder cancer in September, 2007. She was perfect for us and we weren’t sure if we wanted to get another dog because it hurt so much when we lost her. But, one winter night, we found the Wyoming Border Collie Rescue website. We were drawn to Border Collies because Tess loved to be chased and herded by Oscar and Ozzie, two really neat Border Collies who live next to our neighborhood park.
After seeing the WBCR website, we contacted Tonya and were soon paired with Emmy, who is a Border Collie/Lab mix. From the moment we met Emmy, we were in love. At our meeting, she was so friendly, happy and comfortable with us that it felt like she had already been part of the family for a long time. In fact, on the car ride home, she just laid in the back seat of the car and slept.
Emmy has only been here 2 ˝ months, and has definitely made herself at home. Initially, she was very scared to go up and down the stairs and in and out of the dog door, but because she’s an extremely fast learner, she had both of those mastered within the week. We haven’t had any major problems with Emmy because she came to us with some great training and socialization. She’s so silly and friendly that everyone is always happy to see her, and she’s already a well-known regular at the neighborhood park. Oscar and Ozzie once again have another buddy to chase. Emmy’s also become quite the frisbee dog!
Thank you to Tonya and WBCR for giving us such a special gift. Emmy’s constant goofiness and love has been perfect for us, and has helped us remember all of the happy times with Tess."
